STEP 1 DO YOUR RESEARCH

If you haven't already, visit the official NSCC website to learn more about our programs and understand the qualifications.  You can also learn more on this website as well as our page on Facebook and the official NSCC page on Facebook.

Make sure you understand the time commitment and your responsibilities as a cadet.  Research all the units near you to find the one that best fits with you and your schedule.

Understand all the costs involved in participating in the program.

STEP 2 PLAN YOUR VISIT

Check out our drill schedule and pick a Saturday to visit.  Then we'll need a few things from you:

  • Once you've settled on a date send us an e-mail and let us know you plan on attending.
  • Your visit will be at one of our 3 scheduled Recruit Orientations.
  •  Orientations are held in August / November / February during the Drill Year Cycle
  •  Remember that until you're enrolled, you're not covered under our insurance!
  •  Every new recruit must pass a PRT (Physical Readiness Test) and go through a selection committee before being accepted as a recruit.

STEP 3 TRY THINGS OUT

The first thing you'll need to do is get access to our training site.  The training site is aboard the Navy Operational Support Center at Fort Dix (NOSC), part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, in New Jersey.

When you visit our unit and do not already have a DBIDS card or military ID that grants you access to the base, you must first visit the McGuire Welcome Center (BLDG 3021 McGuire Blvd Wrightstown NJ) to obtain a visitor's pass for the weekend. This is ONLY possible if you have spoken with our Division Officer and we have verified that you are on the visitors list. When you sign in at the Welcome Center, you must indicate that you need a Visitor Pass and that you are with the Sea Cadets, and if needed indicate that Instructor Joshua Ward is your sponsor. You will need to bring valid government ID (such as a Driver's License), as well as current registration and insurance card. Please allow sufficient time to obtain your pass. Their hours are:  Monday-Friday: 0600-1800 and Saturday and Sunday: 0730-1530. They can be reached at 609-754-3938.

Once you have this pass or if you already have a DBIDS card, use your favorite mapping site or GPS to get you to the Route 68 Main Gate at Fort Dix.
From the Route 68 Gate, you'll need to come to our office for drop-off and pick-up.

  1. Proceed into the traffic circle.
  2. Take the second right off the circle onto Pemberton-Wrightstown Road.
  3. At the traffic light, make a right onto New Jersey Avenue.
  4. Follow New Jersey Avenue South, passing the following landmarks:
    • at 8th Street, the 87th Security Forces Squadron Police Station will be on your left.
    • at 10th Street, there will be a traffic light.

  1. To get to the office/drop-off point/pick-up point, make a left onto Orlando St. Building 5958 will be on your left, and we are at the far end. If you reach 16th Street or can see the fencing surrounding the Federal Correctional Institute, you have gone too far.  The drop-off point building is marked with a sign for Navy Reserve Recruiting.  Parking is at the rear of this building.

IF YOU GET LOST, OR YOU CANNOT GAIN ENTRANCE TO THE BASE, PLEASE CALL (609) 341-6555.
